Present your documents at the dedicated transit immigration counter.
Step 3: Application
Inform the immigration officer you wish to use the 240-hour transit visa exemption. Complete the arrival card.
Step 4: Entry Permit
The officer will stamp your passport with a temporary entry permit showing your allowed stay period.
Step 5: Transit
Travel within your permitted zone. Remember:
- Stay within the designated province/region
- Keep your immigration stamp and boarding pass
- Exit before the 240-hour deadline

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Forgetting to count the full day: Hours start at midnight, not from your arrival
- Leaving the permitted zone: Stick to your province/region
- Using return flight as “third country”: Must be a different destination
- Missing the deadline: Set multiple alarms for your exit time
- Not keeping immigration stamp: Required for exit verification
Pro Tips
- Maximize your time: Arrive early on Day 1 to get the full 10 days
- Know your zone: Some regions allow cross-province travel (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai, Guangdong)
- Book flexible tickets: If you miss your connection, you may need a visa
- Download offline maps: Of your permitted zone in case of connectivity issues
- Keep copies: Photograph all documents and stamps
